Booking & Typical Costs

Whether guided or unguided the session fee covers the time out on the ground. Often there is no additional charge, but depending on what is shot there may be an additional “shot fee”.

Shot fees vary depending on species and management objectives. Most outings focus on female deer, which typically carry low or no additional shot fees.

Full shot fee details are available on our Shot Fees page. Your guide will always confirm applicable fees before any shot is taken.

Watermeadow provides structured unaccompanied stalking for competent and experienced deer stalkers across carefully managed ground throughout the UK.

Unguided sessions are designed for confident rifle certificate holders capable of safe, independent decision-making while operating within clearly defined estate parameters.

All unguided outings operate under the Watermeadow Standard with safety, ethical shot selection and professional conduct expected at all times.

High Seat Requirement

For safety and ground familiarisation, the first twelve unguided sessions on any new estate are conducted from designated high seats only.

This ensures that each guest develops appropriate knowledge of the ground before any variation in stalking structure is considered.

This policy is non-negotiable and forms part of our risk management framework.

What to Expect

Your outing begins with a structured briefing before deployment to your allocated high seat.

You are responsible for:

  • Safe firearm handling
  • Accurate species and gender identification
  • Ethical shot selection
  • Compliance with estate boundaries and instructions

A guide remains available on the ground if required.

Inclusions & Shot Policy

Your booking fee includes:

  • Ground access
  • Deployment to allocated high seat
  • Unlimited female deer where applicable (excluding PAYG option)

Shot fees for other animals apply in accordance with the published Shot Fees schedule.

Gralloching

Guests are expected to gralloch their own deer to an acceptable food hygiene standard.

Failure to meet required standards may result in the guide completing the gralloch at a charge of £25 per animal, and potentially the cost of a spoiled carcass.

Unguided sessions are suitable only for experienced deer stalkers.

Participants must:

  • Hold DSC1 / PDS1 or have a minimum of three years’ stalking experience
